BLS - Basic Life Support
A course for healthcare providers.
The Basic Life Support course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED.
In the instructor-led course, students participate in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. Students work with an AHA BLS Instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing. Students also complete a written exam.
Our hybrid course offers an online lecture format and includes a skills session. The hybrid course follows the same AHA guidelines required by healthcare employers.
Wondering what is the difference between BLS and CPR? Good question. In reality, CPR and BLS are often used synonymously. They both can refer to cardiopulmonary resuscitation and related life-saving techniques.
However, BLS often refers to a healthcare-specific CPR course. Otherwise known as a Basic Life Support certification, your BLS course will train you in cardiopulmonary resuscitation as well as how to perform additional emergency care skills such as using a bag valve mask, checking pulses, and performing 2-rescuer CPR.
